repeat acne

by Erin, Oct 19, 2000 12:00AM
a few months ago i had one of those cystic-under-the-skin type pimples on the side of my face down by my chin.  i used that biore over-night acne mask thing on it one night.  within a couple days the spot was very dry and red and had broken down into several smaller pimples.  it has been a good 2-3 months since this whole thing started and i am still trying to make them go away!  i have been very patient but by now i just want them to go away.  just when i think it's all gone, i get one during the day.  it starts out itchy like a hive and then by the end of the day it's red and sore.  if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.  i have tried everything i can think of, otc and home remedies.  any help would be appreciated.

Erin:

I think you ought to see a dermatologist about your condition.  These cysts are best treated from within (as with an antibiotic) as well as from outside.  Meantime, try washing with a cleanser containing 2% salicylic acid and a spot cream with 5% benzoyl peroxide.  These are available over-the-counter, and should help, at least for a start.

Best.

A wonderful 2% salicylic acid cleanser that I found is called "Acnex" and is made by Dermtek in Montreal, Canada.  I am a 30 year old female who had suffered with acne for 15 years.  I tried everything ranging from topical medications, to the birth control pill, to Accutane.  Believe it or not, nothing worked as effectively and impressively as this cleanser.  I've been acne-free for one year now.

Good Luck!

thanks ann. do you have a number or a website i can reach them at?  i'd like to get some info.  it's like everyday i wake up with a new one, always in the same area.  it's so frustrating!  i can cover them up pretty decently but it doesn't last all day, especially when the hive ones come and i end up itching my face all afternoon.  thanks so much!
