Should i be concerned?

by lance, Nov 11, 2000 12:00AM
About 3 days ago i noticed a small very light pink spot on the shaft of my penis, it was barely noticable and i didn't think much of it. The next morning the spot was a bit larger and a dark purple color. It didn't hurt but the discoloring stayed for 2 days. Now the area seems to be getting lighter. I have only had unprotected sex once in my life and that was about 9 or 10 months ago so i don't think it's an STD. Is this just a skin blemish that was agitated during masterbation? or possably something worse?  your thoughts are appriciated. thanks.

Lance:

I think your diagnosis is correct--mild irritation either from masturbation or reddened by it.  Apply moisture lotion once a day, leave the skin otherwse alone, and wathc the spot fade over 2-4 days.

Best.

don't overlook the fact that this could be H.P.V a virus that causes genital warts.  Genital warts don't look like your average warts..and guys are known to get a pink "spot" on the shaft of their penis if this is the case.  If I were you I'd see a doctor and have it checked out.  Genital warts are also known to go away on their own sometimes.  H.P.V is probably the most common STD in this country right now.  Most people don't even realize that they have it.  You had unprotected sex...there is a risk.  My advice to you is to go and get it looked at. Good luck.
