Peri-Oral Dermatitis

by Sherrie, Jan 02, 2001 12:00AM
I have read all the posts on this subject but was wondering if there are any new treatments for this.  I know this is what I have.  I am applying metro-lotion and have not noticed any posititve results.  I understand that it takes about a month before noticing if it helps.  I have read that I need to be on tetracycline.  I'm going to ask m.d. if he will give me a prescription.  Is there anything else I can do?  Or are there any new meds or break-throughs that doctors are becoming aware of?  Please help.....since it is such a frustrating thing!  Thanks!

Sherrie:

I find that the tetracyclines help a lot better than topical lotions.  I'd stay on the Metrolotion and ask your doctor for a prescription for an oral medication too.  Shouldn't take more than a month or so to clear up, assuming the diagnosis is correct.

Best.
