Scalp Problems

by Eddy, Mar 12, 2001 12:00AM
I suffer from severe dandruff and I keep getting little bumps/welts on my scalp. Sometimes I scratch off what seems like a small crystalized object. What is this and how can I fix it?

Thank you.

Eddy:

First, stop scratchijg.  hard, but necessary.  Second, try an OTC dandruff shampoo like Neutrogena T-gel or 1% Nizoral.  If that fails, ask a doc for some help.  There are medicated lotions which do a very good job.

Best.

I had the same problem - solved by my hairdresser! It's apparently crystals of the silicone-based conditioner found in so-called "combined" shampoos. She advised not using such shampoos more than once a week at most. I haven't used them since - I now use seperate shampoo and conditioner. Hope this helps!
