Bump on scrotum

by riogringo, Nov 02, 2002 12:00AM
I am 43 years old and I noticed a small bump(1/8 of inch) with a white head on my scotum near my groin about three weeks ago. It fells hard but is  not painful and I treated it with a antibiotic ointment. Thinking it might be a ingrown hair,a few days later I tried sqeezing it but nothing happened.I kept treating it but it seems to have no affect.I have soaked in hot baths with rubbing aicohol and tried sqeezing it again, and still nothing. It has enlarged only slightly over this period of time. What could this be, and how should I treat it? Do I need a oral antibiotic,if so,what do you suggest? Is there a chance it is contagious, or sexully transmitted?

It sounds like a cyst, common on the scrotum.  The white contents are dead skin cells, not pus.  You can't squeeze the stuff out.

It isn't sexually transmitted, and needs no treatment.

I suggest that you show it to a doctor next time you go.

Best.
