Rash on innter thigh

by Elbuho, Jan 16, 2003 12:00AM
A couple of days ago I noticed a series of small rashes on my left inner thigh, mostly but not all running along the area where my jockey shorts end. At first, I thought they were bug bites, with small red points on them. They've now sort of spread within five or six red patches of about 1/2" each. They definitely itch, are bright red and they don't appear anymore to be bites. I can't say they're getting worse, but they also don't seem to be getting better.

What do you think this is? I've used Cort-Aid to combat the itching and that seems to help that symptom, but I'm worried that I may need to attack the rash in some other manner. Thoughts?

I'm not sure.  This may be a bacterial infection (impetigo), in which case you would need antibiotics, oral or topical, or the prescription variety.  Fungus or yeast or eczema would be less likely.

None of the diagnoses I metnioned, including the infectious ones, is necessarily contagious, though they soemtimes are, and that's another reason to get this checked and taken care of.  Sometimes they just happen.  But they need to be treated.

So I'd apply bacitracin or neosporin, but I would also make a doctor's appointment as soon as you can.

Best.

I have the same problem, a rash on my inner thigh, its been here for about 2 weeks, it doesnt seem to be gettting any better or worse, i just woke up one morning and noticed it, i scratched it alot before i really noticed it was a rash, i thought it was a bug bite or something, so i might have made it worse by scratching. any thoughts?
