Lichen planus

by vieeno, Dec 10, 2003 12:00AM
bx diagnosed lichen planus.  What are the treatments and do you know of any specialists in the Ann Arbor MI area?  Is there a cure or medicine to stop the itching. They are starting to leave scars.  So far they are on my limbs, back, abdomen and groin.  I also have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue disease.  Any interaction between these and the L.P.  Will  diet play a part in the treatment?

Any dermatologist would be able to diagnose and treat lichen planus.  This is a fairly common skin condition of unknown cause, which generally lasts 12-18 months before resolving.  It can be itchy, and it can also leave brown pigmentation that can be long-lasting.  It is not usually associated with any internal diseases.  Diet plays no role that I know of.

Best.
