Tingling, Redness, Irritation, Night Sweats, What is causing it???

.I’m a 25 year old male. 12 days ago I had protected sex with a call girl. 2 weeks before that I had sex with a stripper and the condom broke. (These are the only two times in my life I’ve had these kinds of flings!!!).

9 days ago I started to feel a tingling sensation in my penis and scrotum (feels like I have Icyhot or Bengay ointment on them). That night, I had night sweats, as well as the next day when I came home to take a nap.

I went to my family physician who tested me and went ahead and treated me for possible bacterial std’s (all tests came up negative though). Not being an expert on Herpes, he dismissed the idea of it because I did not show any of the traditional blisters; only redness and irritation.

I still have the tingling, and my scrotum is very red and irritated. No blisters though. I have no allergies, and have never had these types of symptoms in my life. What concerns me is the timing of these signs and symptoms coming just after my most recent two sexual encounters.

Question #1: Does this sound like Herpes?

Question #2: If this may be Herpes, should I try to get on an antiviral? (I have read on the internet that: "It may be especially important to identify a primary infection (if possible) and to treat it as soon as possible, since some preliminary research suggests that early treatment may limit the number of viruses that remain latent in the body and reduce the frequency of recurrent outbreaks.")

Thank you very much for your response!!!

tinglered1. No, it sounds like anxiety about herpes.
2. No.

I think your family physician is correct.

I advise you to avoid these kinds of risky encounters, for both medical and psychological reasons.

Take care.

Dr. A. Rockoff What I forgot to mention is my concern in diagnosing this with the absence of blisters. All the research I have done, including contacting the CDC National STD Hotline, has indicated that someone with Herpes can have the disease without presenting any of the typical Herpes blisters or clusters.

.I have similar symptoms to yours about the tingling on the scrotum without the blisters.

Mine has been on and off for about 36 days now, which is much longer than a herpes outbreak.

The CDC has said tingling and burning precedes an outbreak of blisters in 8-72 hours, which has never happened to me.
