BUG BITES?

by KIMPOSSIBLE, Jun 02, 2004 12:00AM
FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER, I HAVE BEEN GETTING THESE LITTLE

BUG BITES ON ALL DIFFERENT PARTS OF MY BODY. (AREAS - WAIST BAND ON MY STOMACH, INSIDE MY ELBOWS, UNDER MY ARM PITS, IN MY PUBIC AREA)  EVERY WHERE I PERSPIRE. I HAVE BEEN TREATED FOR SCABIES, HIVES, DUST MITES AND ALLERGIES. I HAVE BEEN TREATED WITH CORTIZONE AND ANTIBIOTICS.  I HAVE WASHED, CLEANED AND VACUMED EVERYTHING I OWN, BUT NOTHING HELPS.   I ITCH SO BAD THAT IT HAS BROUGHT ME TO TEARS.  MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER SLEEPS IN THE SAME BED AND HE IS NOT GETTING BIT. I HAVE HAD GUESTS SLEEP IN THE SAME BED- NOTHING.  FOR SOME REASON I AM THE ONLY ONE BEING AFFLICATED.  I HAVE SEEN FOUR DOCTORS, THEY SEEM TO BE STUMPED ALSO.   CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE ME SOME HELP?

I'm afraid I can't.  If you've been getting these bumps for "as long as you can remember, they aren't likely to be bug bites.  There are skin conditions which can look like bug bites and itch badly.  You should consult a skin Doctor about the possibility of performing biopsies of characteristic lesions.  These may provide some clue.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific than that.

Dear Kim, I can sympathize with you on this because I also get bitten in my bed where as my husband doesnt. In our case its because the dogs sometimes have a flea on them even though we have them treated and I will get bitten frequently where my husband will not. Sometime ago I was constantly itchy on my arms and waistband, under my arms etc and that was because I was washing my laundry with regular soap where for the past 8 yrs I only use the perfume and dye free kind. Which stopped right away. Also when I had moved into my new home around that same time I had a water purification system put in because I couldnt take being itchy anymore and taking benedryl everyday.

Good Luck.

I never thought I'd hear of anyone else with this condition. I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this but I'm glad to know that I'm not crazy either. I've been dealing with this same thing for about 6 months now & have even considered suicide. I feel like that's the only way it will stop. I've spent close to $300 on lice & scabies treatment, used anti-itch creams & gels.

Nothing has worked. My husband has no signs of this & neither does anyone else I've came in close contact with. Please let me know if you ever found out what caused this. And I really sympathize you.Thank you so much.

Help me!

I'm in the same boat as you all.  I am loosing my mind here.  The most recent location for the rash is my hands (not the palms) and on my arms and legs.  I lost it last night and scratched the hell out of my hands and am not putting peroxide on them regularly to avoid an infection.   My boyfriend has never been bitten, and I am really starting to doubt that they are bug bites at all.  This has been going on for over three months and I can NOT bear it anymore.....can't a dermatologist look at the bumps and tell if there is a place where the skin has been punctured by a bug bite?!?!?    My dermatologist just keeps having me do the normal mass cleaning, different ointments, antihystomine's ...(boy was that spelt wrong)

Has anyone had any breakthroughs??????   I'm obsessed with figuring this out because it is unbearable!.
