Am I worrying over nothing?

by niccheer, Sep 21, 2004 12:00AM
I  noticed a few bumps on my groin area about 3 1/2 years ago. None of them are even near the vagina or anus area. They are in the bikini area. At the time I did not think anything of it. They are not clustered together, are very small, are smooth. Some of them are on a hair follicle so the hair grows through them. I have removed some before just by picking at them. I haven't been monitoring them so do not know if they grow back or not. They do not seem to grow or change in any way, but like I said, I have not really been monitoring them. In the past week for some reason I started really thinking about them and wondering if they could be warts. I have been with the same guy for a year and a half. I haven't mentioned this to him yet so I don't worry him if it's nothing, but I don't think he has any growths or anything. My ex boyfriend that I was with for two years is now dating someone else too and I thought if they were warts he would have called me or something. (I have only had sex with three people).I went to the gyno last week but for some reason was too scared to ask her about them. I think my annual visit is what got me to thinking about them. Anyway, hopefully you can give me some insight on these so maybe I can quit worrying. I just thought if they were warts or something they would atleast grow or something. Another thing, I am not sure if the ones that I saw 3 1/2 years ago are them same ones that are still there today or if those have disappeared and new ones have appeared. They are not red or anything until I mess with them.

I don't think they are warts, but I can't tell for sure without seeing them.  Your gynecologist saw you, and presumably them.  I think you would have been better off to bring them to the doctor's attention when you were there.  I advise you to overcome your fear and do that now.  Otherwise, there is no way for you to be sure, now that you have started paying attention to them.  The more you look on the internet, the more confused you're going to be.

Best.

A few more questions. I just want to know if hair can grow through warts and if you pull the wart/skin off, will it leave a hole in your skin? I have gotten warts on my hands before and when I pulled them off they left a little hole where the wart used to be. When I have pulled off these "bumps" from my bikini/groin area they do not leave a hole, but I did not know if it was bc they are not warts or because they are fairly small. I also figured that if you pull a wart off it will grow back, that is what has always happened to my regular plantar warts. I have read that warts can stay the same size, but is that rare or is it quite possible they have not grown in almost 4 years(if they are in fact the same bumps that I noticed at first). I have followed your advice and haven't looked online anymore so I won't get confused even more! Please just clarify these few things for me. I also did the vinegar test and none of them turned white, but I know you do not think it is reliable anyway.

In general, warts don't have hairs in them.  Please stop pulling them off, and get them checked out.  Thanks.
