bump on head of penis

by nyrep77, Jul 10, 2005 12:00AM
Hi i really need some help. About a week ago i noticed a small red bump on the rim of the head of my penis.  It gives me no pain or itching.  It is very small and if i stretch the skin around it it becomes nearly invisible.  I had unprotected sex with a really good friend of mine about a year ago, and im almost 100 percent sure she was clean.  I have sebacceous hyperplasia so im already very insecure about my penis.  im really worried.  I don't see how it could be hpv or any other STD if my partner didn't have anything.  could i just be overanalyzing and worrying too much or could this be seriouse?  Could this be genital warts? Is it just a simple irritation?

Also, something that i have had for a very long time, however im not sure if i had it before or after the unprotected sex, is a  small area of discoloration where my shaft meets my foreskin.  Its slightly more tan and where it meets the foreskin it is elevated slightly.  Is this just a normal discoloration?  or is this something seriouse?  are the two things related?  Thanks i really appreciate your time.

I doubt this is a wart.  For some reason, warts mostly affect the shaft of the penis, not the head.  However, I'm sure you realize that it will take a personal examination for you to be sure.  I advise you to leave the bump alone so as not to confuse the issue, and see a dermatologist.  While you're there, get the information you need to stop being insecure about your penis.  Having small cysts or sebaceous glands is normal.  If that's what you have, you need not be insecure.  They're not halfway to warts--they aren't anything at all.

Best.
