Another question about spots

by Wowsa, Oct 09, 2005 12:00AM
I've posted here before about spots on my penis that i thought could be HPV.  There were 3 or so little zit looking things.  They weren't filled with puss but they were kinda dryer then the rest of the skin.  They've been there for the past 2 and a half months or so.

About a month and a half ago i went to the doc.  He took a look closely with some sort of magnifying glass and said they weren't HPV or any other kind of STD.  I can't remember exactly what he called it, Sebaceous something or other.  I have it on the doctor's paper, but i can't read his handwriting.  He said there's nothing you can do to get rid of it, and assured me that it can't be transmitted to a partner.

Well i'm worried cuz it's still there and around it are many bumps still that've always been there.  The multitude of the bumps are barely raised above the skin, and don't have a rougher texture like the 3 or so little zit looking things.

Does this still sound normal?  Or should i get a HPV test?  I can't help but worry, because they just look and feel wierd.  Wierd to me anyways.  Thanks again doc.

The doctor presumably though these were sebaceous cysts, which is what they sound like.  They are common on the penis.  They aren't contagious, and mean nothing.

Since you already went to a doctor and were told they aren't herpes, I'm not sure what it would take to convince and reassure you.  Another opinion, perhaps?

Again, the spots don't sound anything like herpes.  Among many other things, herpes sores come and go, whereas it sounds as though these hang around.

Take care.

Thanks for the reassurance.  Could these sebaceous cysts have a  more rough feel to them then normal skin?

Possibly.
