Tip of penis swollen...

by fsubud05, May 12, 2006 12:00AM
I don't know what information is important, so I'll just tell it all. About three months ago I got ringworm (and jock itch). My testicles and tip of my penis were red also. I saw a doctor, and he thought that it was probably jock itch on my testicles because the only sexual contact I have had was through oral sex. Just to be sure he tested me for chlamydia and ghonneria, and prescribed me medication for the ringworm. The tests came back negative, and the medication made the ringworm on my body go away, except for the tip of my penis. The meatus is still swollen. It does not hurt when I urinate, and there is no discharge at all. The only thing that comes close to some discharge is after I urinate, I have to wipe off the meatus because urine is still covering it (because it's swollen). This has gone on for about 6 weeks now.

What could it possibly be? Should I go to a doctor? and if so should I see a  dermatologist or a urologist? any help would be appreciated.

I don;t think you have ringworm (fungus) any more, if indeed you had it at all.  I think you had irritation or eczema, and that what's left near the tip is just the last remnant of that.  I suggest you apply 1% hydrocortisone (over-the-counter) twice a day for a week, along with non-medicated moisture lotion.  If that doesn't take care if it, I'd see a dermatologist for something prescription-strength.

Best.
