Question Title: Epiretinal membraneForum: The Eye Care Forum

Posted by Louis Csak on August 17, 1999 at 09:12:26 I had a retinal tear repaired with laser surgery 10 weeks ago. I had a lazy eye corrected with muscle surgery one week ago. So far, so good. I read that one person that had the same procedure as me had to have a epiretinal membrane repaired many years later. What is that? Are there any more problems I might be pre-disposed to after my operations? Thanks Louis
Posted by hfhs md - ni on August 18, 1999 at 21:15:52 Sometimes, tears in retina can release some cells which can cause the retina to wrinkle and create epiretinal membranes. This is relatively unusual and more common with bigger holes and retinal detachments. Anyone with retinal holes needs to be followed for the possible development of more holes and a retinal detachment.
