Question Title: Color Distortion

Forum: The Eye Care Forum
Topic: Misc (Eye Problems)

For the past few days, my eyes have been super-sensitve to light. When I gaze at a white wall, there are black "spots" on the wall. When I look out into the sunlight, my colors are distorted and hazy. I am a little dizzy on occasion. Thought it might be migraine related, but have it again today, and I have no headache of any type. I am 33 years old, no glasses, take atenolol and triphasil 28 for heart /b.c. I also take garlic supplements, B6, and Kelp. Is this problem with vision anything to worry with, or just mild paranoia?

Any type of ocular irritation can make people sensitive to light. There is a common eye inflammation called iritis which causes eye discomfort, sensitivity to light, and redness. This needs to be evaluated by an ophthalmologist and this is usually treated with drops. You may be slightly sensitive to light for no medical reason, but I recommend being evaluated by an ophthalmologist. The spots you are seeing periodically are called floaters and this is due to a normal degenerative process of the vitreous gel that fills the back of the eye. Occasionally these floaters may be due to inflammation or they could be as a sign of retinal detachment. See your ophthalmologist for evaluation.

Good Luck.
