I have classic symptoms of Reiter's syndrome. The dr has put me on doxicycline to reduce swelling, but this dries out my eyes. I would like to know if there is an anti-inflamatory that will not dry my eyes out. This is a very frustrating condition.
I agree that this can be a frustrating condition. Reiter's Syndrome may be associated with inflammation of the urinary tract which may predispose you to infections. I assume this is why you are on the doxycycline. Dryness of your eyes may be more of a manifestation of the disease rather than the doxycycline. My first recommendation would be to try using artificial tears (Refresh, GenTeal are examples). You certainly need to have regular ophthalmologic wxams to make sure there is not any inflammation in the eye which as you know is common. Other treatment options include placement of punctal plugs for the dryness. Good luck. This information was provided for medical information purposes only.
