This week I had my eyes examined. The doctor noticed a swelling in my right eye and was unable to successful correct its blurry, double vision. The left eye's vision was corrected with no problem. Because I've been experiencing some allergy problems, he suggested that I use OcuHist for one week and return for another exam.

Is it possible for allergies to cause a swelling in one eye and not the other? What are other possible reasons for eye swelling?

I'm assuming that if the swelling hasn't diminished by next week that I need to be examined by an opthamologist. Do you agree?

eye "swelling" is a very non specific diagnosis- do u mean the eye lid, the conjunctiva ( skin of the eye ), the cornea- what do u mean?? and what about this double vison- is this something new- is it with one eye open or two?? i would need alot more info to properly answer your questions, but i can say that allergies can cause an asymmetric eye condition, effecting one eye more then the other and i would see an ophthalmologist if symptoms persist more then a week.
