Question Title: cow protein antigen & intermediate uveitisForum: The Eye Care Forum
| |
Posted by skd40 on May 09, 1999 at 22:40:24 I was diagnosed with intermediate uveitis 12/98. I took prednisone 60mg the first flare which took care of inflammation but one week after ending medication inflammation came back posterior & now anterior. Back on predisone again 60mg. Any thoughts on the cow protein antigen for future treatment? I have no snowbanking and pars plana not affected. Puff ball only with a couple cells. I'm currently using steroid drops hourly. I don't appear to be the "usual classified intermediate uveitis".
Posted by HFHS MD - NI on May 09, 1999 at 23:11:26 Uveitis can be a very difficult problem to treat. Sometimes, it is not possible to discover the cause of a particular type of uveitis. From what you are describing, you started with intermediate uveitis and progressed to some form of panuveitis. Since you did not have snow banks, your intermediate uveitis was probably not that severe. Since your blood work has been normal, it is hard for me to determine the cause of your symptoms. You should see a uveitis specialist who can do a comprehensive evaluation including asking multiple medical history questions. This may shed light on the cause and treatment. Steroids are a common treatment to quiet intraocular inflammation. Again, the uveitis specialist can help guide this treatment. I am not aware of the cow protien antigen to which you are referring. This information is provided for educational purposes only. Please see your physican for diagnostic and treatment options. Sincerely, HFHS MD - NI
