Question Title: Clip left in after surgery

I had my gallbladder removed last November and the Dr. left a clip in me, where I do not know. I know he stated that when he took the gallbladder there were a lot of adhesions above the liver which he removed, and a piece of intestine was stuck to the stomach which he also fixed. My question is I still have pain under the right rib area, between the rib and navel. Could this be the clip? or adhesions again? or what is the pain? It comes and goes, and bowel movements are normal, also have pain in the right knee, any relation?

Clips are used to occlude blood vessels during surgery. There are always clips left during surgery.

It would be unusual to attribute pain to the clip. We know that if the gall bladder is removed for atypical abdominal pains, then the pain will often recur postoperatively. In addition to the possible causes for pain listed in your e-mail, one must also consider irritable bowel syndrome, diseases of esophagus, stomach and intestine.

Your knee pain is probably unrelated to your abdominal pain.
