Question Title: Abdominal migraine/ cyclic vomittingForum: The Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases Forum
| ||||
My ten-year-old daughter has been suffering from this since she was an infant. She had unexplained vomitting lasting 6-10 hours followed by a coma-like sleep occuring at six-week intervals with no symptoms the following day. This pattern continued until age 5 when she was correctly diagnosed. She has been hospitalized twice since diagnosis for dehydration caused by vomitting that did not cease after 36 hours, contrary to her usual episodes.She is currently being treated with 1 tsp.periactin daily and it is working fine. I have been told that as she matures, she will develop more migraine headaches and less of the abdominal variety. Is there any information about this transition and/or the severity and frequency of the migraines after puberty? Will she experience auras (she hasn't so far) and will the vomitting continue? __
