Question Title: Acid Reflux or Ulcer?

Forum: The Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases Forum
Topic: Ulcer

I am in my late 20's. A few months I saw a doctor for some pain I was having. He did a blood test and I was diagnosed with acid reflux and given a prescription for Prevacid. I took it for 30 days, but the side effects (stomach cramps, diarrhea)were worse than the symptoms and I was taken off it. Since then, the symptoms have improved but I find that no matter how bland or light the food I eat, I still get some brief sharp pains, particularly in my side and under my arm. Also, I find most everything, even water, repeating on me. My question is, is this something that will continue to improve over time if I watch my diet or could I be too far gone towards an ulcer for that to happen?

dear Daniel,
The symptoms that you describe are not suggestive for ulcer disease. The repeating of food raises the possibility of esophageal reflux.
