Question Title: proper post fundoplication care ...Forum: The Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases Forum
| ||||
I am a 38 year old male who recently had a Laproscopic Nissin performed. I am very happy with the results. My symptoms included constant regurgitation which I had all my life. It was so bad that it damaged my tooth enamel. I also had a small hiatal hernia and shotsky ring that were repaired during the surgery. I had preoperative tests including endoscopy, motility and gastric emptying. I have experienced some increased gas bloat and fullness in the chest and often have a gurgle of air come up every few minurtes but these symptoms are very minor to live with compared to before. Although every time I have one of these symptoms I worry that the reflux is coming back and wonder if I did any thing to cause somthing to come loose. My question concerns proper post operative care of myself. I never thought this would bother me but I find myself afraid of doing something that will cause the wrap or hernia repair to come loose. I used to be very physically active prior to surgery but now am afraid to do much. I know the wrap is held by stitches and eventually scar tissue or adhesions. How long does it take for everything to heal and for the adhesions to form? Are there any physical activities I should avoid and if so for how long? I feel fortunate to have been able to get this lifelong problem fixed and I want to take proper care of myself. Thank for this opportunity to help me and others.
