Dear Jim,

You did not post a question so I assume that you are asking about the complications of Bilroth 1 surgery.  A Bilroth1 procedure involves removal of the antrum and pylorus and reattacment of the stomach remnant to the duodenum.  (IN a Bilroth II procedure the stomach remnant is attached to another part of the small intestine).  Complications of Bilroth1 surgery include abdominal cramps and diarrhea fter eating, dumping syndrome, and weight loss.  Ulcer recurrence is very unusual, happening in less that 1% of patients having this surgery.

My husband has just learned that he has bio reflux. What exactly is it , why did he get it and what is the best treatment for it? The doctor will be calling in a prescription for him tommorrow so I don't yet know what he will be taking. I can't find any information on this condition whatsoever.

Thanks Carol
