H. Pylori antibiotic treatment causing gastritis?

by JH, May 27, 2001 12:00AM
After two rounds of antibiotic treatment for H. Pylori bacteria,

I have developed severe acid reflux and burning stomach?

Has anyone experienced the same? and if so, how did you cope

with the problem?

In my case I had acid reflux and burning stomach before I was diagnosed with H Pylori. My doctor put me on antibiotics within two weeks it was gone. After six months the symptoms came back. I find by laying down on your left side for half an hour will cut back the acid and the burning sensation because of the shape of the stomach. Cutting down on foods with high fibres like bran, sliced bread and spicy foods, alcohol especially beer because of the yeast. You can also get a prescription from your doctor for pepcid 40 mlg, not the one on the shelf. Hope this will help good luck.

Thanks for your info.

How are you doing with your problem? Are you completely well?

I wonder how long it will take me to feel well.  My antibiotic

treatment for HP was till end of Feb of this year.  So for

about three months, I have been having problem with my stomach.

It is better than what it used to be.  But somedays, my

stomach still feels inflammed and sensitive to touch especially

upper part of the stomach.  I guess I need to be careful with

my diet but how much longer do I have to suffer?
