Just wanted to let you know I can relate. If you ever want to talk, you know where to find me.
Acid reflux is a very common problem experienced by countless people. Of course, you have identified the true solution to the problem...medications can help, but the most important things that you can do are to make diet/lifestyle changes. Here are a few: you should know right now what exacerbates (or bothers) your reflux...Generally speaking, try to avoid things like spicy foods, chocolate, some dairy products, and generally try a blander diet..the more spicy, the worse for reflux.
you can also try to elevate the head of your bed by 30-45 degrees if nighttime reflux is a problem. In addition, try to avoid eating within about 1-3 before laying down... you may also try OTC acid-reducers like Zantac or Tagamet (generic will be fine) try taking one tablet, and if it doesn't work in about an hour, go ahead and take a second tablet...or, if nighttime reflux is a problem, take 2 OTC Zantac (read the warnings to see if it interacts w/any meds you are taking) about an hour before you go to sleep!
Hope this help! I'll be more than willing to answer any more questions if you have any!
