I seem to have an abundance of gas in my system and they are embarisingly ordorous.  Do you have any suggestions as to what might be causing this or what I can do to prevent this from happening to me.

Thanks

Are you eating alot of fatty foods or sweets? Fats and simple carbs will generally produce alot of gas, so maybe try eating more protein, vegetables, and complex carbs like rice or potatoes, along with plenty of water. Hope that helps.

Actually, if you have added more fiber to your diet lately this will also cause excessive gas.  Certain vegtables, fruit, onions and so on can produce the same thing. If you are a big vegetable eater and love things like beans, broccoli etc....  Try taking beano before each meal and see if this improves you situation.  There are alot of antigas medications on the market. Goodluck!

I'm surprised that irritable bowel syndrome is left out so much in comments.  Irritable bowel can affect anyone at any time but is often genetic and happens more to women than men.  It causes bloating and gas and it is hard to pinpoint any one food as a trouble maker.  More odorous gases are usually caused because some people have more methane than others in their gas but could also be the amount of time food stays in your system because the more it stays the more bacteria there is, and it's the bacteria that causes the odor. Fiber will make irritable bowel worse.  Some are better than others.  Eating small amounts of fiber, (not cereals), but broccoli, spinach, etc. can help.  Activated charcoal, which you can buy at any health food store will help absorb some of the gas.  They use charcoal to absorb poison when children have swallowed it.  That's why it works with gas.  It absorbs.  Miralax is a prescription but will help add water to the stool if it is constipation that is causing the gas.  Exercise is helpful because it helps the digestive system get going.  Hope this helps.
