bile reflux

by frazier, Dec 14, 2001 12:00AM
I have been sick since July with gastritis. I had an endoscopy which revealed the gastritis. I had a HIDA scan that showed my ejection fraction rate to be 54% but I had bile refluxing into my stomach. My symptoms are bloating (I feel like I can't let my stomach relax because it causes a sick bloated feeling), constipation, and a weird feeling when I lie down (I feel kind of hungry but sick at the same time). I am currently taking Metamucil and Carafate but the symptoms, which are worse at night and in the morning, will not go away.

I have went to the doctor repeatedly and he said that I am not a candidate for surgery and that there is really nothing left to do. If anyone has had this problem and knows anything about this please let me know. I also failed to mention that I had a complete blood workup (CBC, liver tests, thyroid, etc.) and everything there was also completely normal.  Thanks in advance!

Have a happy holidays!

There are medications to help remove bile from your body. Many are used for lowering cholesterol. Questran, Colestid to name a few. Ask you doctor.
