lithium and hypothyroidism

I take zoloft (50mgx1a day), lithium carb.(300mgx1a day), and wellbutrin sr(100mgx1a day) for depression.  the lithium is used in a small amount to enhance the effects of the wellbutrin.  i have taken the lithium for a year and 9 months.  abut 2 weeks ago i missed my litium for about a week and a half and then resumed taking it.  Since resuming, i have began to experience short, sudden onsets of nausea  atleast one per day and some worse than others.  I don't vomit, but i swear i'm going to.  Then it goes away and i forgot it even happened about 10 minutes later (not literally) I don't have any other symptoms.  A nurse suggested that i have a metabolic imbalance or inner ear problems.  Do you think the use of lithium or the start back of lithium after not taking it could cause that.  Could it be hypothyroidism?  thank you.  sincerely, Ann

I used to take Lithium and all sorts of antidepressants for years, and I also have hypothyroidism. Many times I'd quit taking my antidepressants, have to go to the hospital, and start the meds all over again. I didn't have the side effects of which you're speaking, but can sure understand where you're coming from! I wish you well! Q

I have hemachromatosis and take an antidepressant called celexa, an antianxiety called serax, adderall which is a stimulant and ambien to sleep = (I Know crazy - and I'm with a good doctor now and am in the process of weaning off the celexa, and adderall) - but ran into some problems - many people in my family meaning cousins and uncles and aunts are on lithium and this is what this new doctor feels I need so I dont take an upper and then a downer adn then a sleeping pill - my concern is going on lithium with a know liver disease - with some cirrohsis - a biopsy was done 10 years ago to diagnose hemachromatosis -

Does any one have any thoughts on lithium and hemachromatos - my doctor shows a little concern - but no other anti depressant works without needing others it appears and my family has been helped by just lithium and I want to try it - but I'm leary!

Thanks for any input
