Diarrhea, Nexium, and Barrett's Esophagus

by Max18, Jan 28, 2002 12:00AM
I have Barrett's Esophagus and have been using Nexium since it came on the market. It has completely eliminated reflux but produces severe, explosive, watery bowel movements -- as many as 8 per day. I cut my dosage down from daily doses of 40mg to thrice weekly 40 mg doses. That cut down, but not totally eliminated, diarrhea. Now, while still on the thrice weekly dosage, severe diarrhea has returned. I stopped the pill for six days, but diarrhea continued. I feel stuck; I'm concerned with Barrett's esophagus and where that can lead, but I can't live with this diarrhea. Advice?
