? about gastro-intestinal problems

by Nipherny, Feb 11, 2002 12:00AM
About 1 1/2 months ago, I had severe stomach cramps that had me double over.

I ended up going to the doc who said I probably had stomach flu.

He gave me a stool softener and Ranitidine.  My stomach was very painful and I was full of gas.  Doc said it was gastro-intestinal.

After 1wk I was back to the doc.  I had a CAT Scan performed showing my colon was full!!!

Doc gave me Magnesium Citrate.  Boy, that was some nasty stuff.  But I emptied my bowels!

In the process doc changed me to Aciphex; he said I had reflux!  But I didn't feel anything coming back up my throat. It slowed down the acid in my stomach but gave me nausea & headaches like crazy.

After 10 days, doc got me off everything.  I'm not taking anything but my stomach hurts!  My stomach gurgles all the time.  I have some strong pains below my rib cage and to the far left and also the pain is "felt" in my back.  I also have pains around my navel area.  It feels like it's pulling.  But I'm not constipated.  I go pretty regular now!

What could this be?

Thanks.

have you tried endoscopy because that will give you a clear picture. Also you have not mentioned where exactly you are getting pain? if it is lower abdomen then u can try colonoscopy... this would really let you know what is going on. you do not have reflux problem.

No, I have not had an endoscopy.

It seems that the pains have slowed down now but come once in a while.

Also, since yesterday, I seem to have the "flu" with the body aching, headache...  I'm not taking any meds.

I just feel run down!

Thank you for your help.
