thickening of colon lumen

by aidan, Feb 12, 2002 12:00AM
My abdominal CT scan showed a thickening of the lumen of the sigmoid colon, but also said that the bowel is not well opacified with contrast in the pelvis.  What are the causes and implications of a thickening of the colon, and what does the caveat about "not well opacified" mean?

Hello, I had some of the same diagnosis from a CT.  The doc said that there was a thickening in the colon and they did a colonoscopy and it rendered no results that were out of the ordinary.  So the doc gave me some antibiotics and they were ok for a little while and now they aren't working, I guess.  What's going on though is that I have right side under the ribs and lower abdominal area that sometimes is present on the right side too, fever that fluctuates throughout the day and exhaustion.  Blood count was normal about 3 weeks ago, but still having the odd temp.  Don't know what's going on, but considering going back to the dr.

Does your son have any of these symptoms?  I will check frequently for a response and correspond about this if you would like.  We can compare notes.  8-)
