post op fistula treatment

by acr, Feb 16, 2002 12:00AM
85 yr old mother had colonectmy due to CA tumor found in rt. colon after a colonoscopy, and F/U surg for adhesions causing blockage. Now has fistula and is on 24-hr TPN via IV in porta-cath.No nursing home will take her. Must go to a ECF for wound care 65 miles away.  Any advise on ECF's in Ohio that treat this, and what is anticipated recovery with the fistula? We're told 3 weeks to 1-year or never! Would like to hear success stories.
