Somewhat new symptoms...want to try new diet

by eccons, Mar 01, 2002 12:00AM
I'm 22 and have had Crohns for about 2 years. In the beginning, I was practically homebound, in so much pain and could hardly leave the bathroom. I have been on prednisone, asacol, purinethol, more antispasm meds than I can remember, and many others. Nothing worked.

Then in May last year, my Dr. told me he wanted me to try a Remicade Infusion. The first one helped a little, so I had one again in July. I couldn't believe it! My symptoms weren't gone, but with the 2nd Remicade, some Purinethol and over the counter stuff (like Immodium) I did really well for about 7 months. In Dec. I had another Remicade. It has done nothing!! I have been as sick in these last couple weeks as I was at the beginning 2 years ago!

My dr. is scheduling (yet another) colonoscopy, but I'm desperate! In the last 2 weeks, I have had 4 bouts of pain that were so intense I felt like I would either throw up or black out. I'm used to these, but they used to only last MAYBE 30 minutes. These last 4 have lasted HOURS, and then I've been so exhausted from the pain that I can hardly move for the rest of the day. The other days, I have felt extremely tired and have had a continual feeling of spasms. I'm back to not wanted to leave the house. I had been working PT in town, but I had to quit the job. (I also have a home business, thank god). Anytime I eat ANYTHING in the last couple days, I've regretted it. So, until I'm better, I want to try a white diet because I can't handle the pain. I know thats white bread, rice, water, and boullion. Do you have any other suggestions? I'm hungry, but afraid to eat-
