Abnormal Liver function test

by avion, Mar 07, 2002 12:00AM
I am 220 pounds and 6 feet tall male. I have hypertriglyceridaemia.

My bi annual exam showed  increased SGPT SGOT and GGT.

I underwent a USG. Ultrasound showed gall bladder sludge. Then I underwent a HIDA scan. the scan is normal.

I am very worried about my high LFTs.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Do i need to undergo any other investigation to rule out any related disorder???

sounds like the raised liver function tests are oonly to do with gallbladder sludge.  is it giving you any pain.  if not i wouldn't be too concerned.

i hope everything goes well.

Thank you for the information and the response. HIDA scan was negative and the gall bladder showed sludge, so I do not understand how HIDA is negative and USG shows sludge. What investigations should be further done?

Any comments or information is welcome.

Thanks again.

sounds like you should have your gall bladder removed. this is a simple operation that can be done with you only being in hospital overnight.  good luck

Hi

Thanks again, but I am very scared of surgery. Can I do something to know why I am having high enzymes when I do not have any other problems.Thanks.

I had elevated enzymes and after two years, my dr had a liver biopsy done.  The next day I was is the ER with severe pain and ended up finding out my gall bladder wasn't functioning at all.  I had surgery on a Sunday morning.  What they thought was sludge, turned out to be many large stones.  Five months after surgery, I still have nausea and don't feel that great.  Good luck.
