Answers for Chronic Gastritis???

by pmg, Mar 17, 2002 12:00AM
Has anyone had Chronic Gastritis and been diagnosed with an underlying problem or disease?  I am desperately seeking answers.

We have ruled out Gall Bladder, Helio Bacteria, age factor, and all the obvious.  I am 30 and should not have this chronic problem.  Everyone I have spoken with normally fully recovered within a year.  Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am a 33 year old male and have had 'gastritis' for approx. 10 years, otherwise healthy. Had endoscopys which reveal no underlying problems. My consultant concludes that I am stressed and anxious, particularly about my health. If I drink too much, or eat the wrong foods then that's enough for a cycle to develop, wherein I listen to gastic discomfort, which causes my concern, which causes the sympoms to amplify and so on. Gastic problems, without underlying physical causes DO come down to a combination of lifestyle, diet and possible stress/anxiety.

I take Zantac as and when one of these cycles kicks off, and I have the head-end of my bed up 20 cms. Look to your lifestyle, young man.

I guess I should have mentioned a few more things.  I did have Helio in 96 and treated.  I recovered for awhile, but was never the same.  I have also have had a fever off and on for several years with these GI problems.  My stress levels are low.  I am blessed with a good job and have no childern.  My husband I have have typical martial issues.  I can't complain.

I have a positive ANA.  I have had a diagnoses of Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, but I am skeptical.  In my mind that is a guess. One blood test and some symptoms of Connective Tissue.  I have been checked fairly well.  I am not concerned with Cancer, HIV, or any other horrible disease. I guess there is a question in my mind of could they have missed something with the pancreas or liver??? Who could know....

Thanks for your input.
