My biggest fear is feling terrible pain during this procedure. If my doctor says I must have it done I am seriously thinking of refusing the test and just continue to go on with my discomfort. Please be very honest with me as far as what you have experienced with this pocedure. Thank you so much for you time.

Hi,

They will put you under completly and you won't feel a thing.  When you awake, you will feel groggy and just want to sleep.  Same thing with the next day.  You may have some discomfort or a sore throat, but you should be just fine.  I have had 2, the last one only 3 weeks ago and according to my doctor, he considered it major surgery that he did, so I was in the hospital for 5 days.  But with you, you will be fine.  It's scarry yes, but you'll be ok!  :-)

I had my ERCP ,because I have been having pain since having my gallbladder out. Like the previous post they do sedate you - I also was given demerol during. I may be they only one out here who had terrible pain during mine. I remember it being so painful I was trying to get off the table. The pain was no different than what I been having since my gallbladder surgery. It lasted that whole day. By the time I got up the next morning I was fine.

Would I do it again? You bet, and I am except this time with menometry. I would do anything for them to find out what is wrong. If this gets the Drs closer I'm there.

Good luck

Hi, I have had an ERCP done not that long ago also.  I was out completely, don't remember a thing about it.  Though I was tired the rest of the day and had a slight sore throat I was fine.  Don't be to worried about it.
