For the h.pylori gastritus my doctor prescribed a 14 day cure of losec, Biaxin, andapo-amoxi.  I am in the middle of the proces.  It seems to reduce the gastritus. BBarend

There is a treatment for H. pylori called Helidac therapy.  It consists of Flagyl, Tetracycline, and Pepto Bismal which are all taken four times a day.  This is safe for people allergic to penicillin.  However, I would not recommend taking the treatment.  I agree with B above....read, read, read all of the posts regarding H. pylori and the problems associated with treatment.  I took this therapy in April and I feel worse now than before I even knew I had H. Pylori!!!!  From the looks of it, I have a long way to go til I'm feeling better!  Hope you find some relief of your symptoms!!

If you decide to take the treatment, do yourself a BIG favor and LOAD UP on yogurt! Eat it like it's going out of style! Also, drink PLENTY, and I mean PLENTY of milk to coat the stomach. The yogurt is needed to replace the good bacteria that the treatment WIPES OUT!

took helidac treatment twice!the treatment is a one way ticket to hell.like the other person said you feelworst after the treatment.if you dont have an actual ulcer they dont need to treat the h.pylori.ask questions and read before you decide, there are a lot of us that went thru the same thing in here.

One thing I've noticed. Everyone that still has HP after treatment, seems to have taken the same thing. Helidac (sp)

Thank god my HP was killed the first time around and that was using the prevpac. Moon, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

Oh my gosh ruc!  How on earth did you manage to get thru Helidac therapy twice???  I was sooooooooo miserable while being on this stuff that I swore if it didn't get rid of the H. Pylori, I was NEVER going to take it again!!  I probably had so many of the possible side effects...fever, joint pain, low back pain, insomnia, generalized flu-like symptoms, low hemoglobin, white count, and platelets, and headaches on almost a daily basis.  I kept taking it thinking that in the end I would feel so much better after I got through this hellis 14 days!!  How wrong I was.  I wish I never would have heard the words HELIDAC THERAPY!!

Was reading the post about eating yogurt for the good bacteria...just in case you are like me and do not like yogurt you can get the same good bacteria from taking  Lactobacillus in the form of a gel cap. You can buy it in just about any drug store. My doctor tells me I should take them every day as it will regulate your bowels and promote good intestinal health.

It puts back the good bacteria after anti-biotic use and bouts of diahrea.
