high fiber diet

by Bionic Granny, Aug 27, 2002 12:00AM
I have been on a high fiber diet for over two years and I had severe diahhrea, but has subsided. My stool is very bulky and alot at one time. Has anyone experienced this condition? I have to stay on this diet, because my mother's twin died from colon cancer and they removed four polyps from me two years ago and I have a small diverticula. Other than the adhesions growing back and the severe pain from them, I am finally starting to feel almost normal. I am back on acid blockers, even after nissan fundoplication. Having gastroscope done when I return home. Is this a normal stool on a high fiber diet?

Well you don't give a lot of information to base an answer on but I would say yes, it sounds normal to me.  What types of high fiber foods do you eat?

I eat an oat-bran cereal with lactaid milk, peanuts in the shell, rice cakes, salads, alot of apples, peaches and whatever fruit in is season. I eat lentel soup, raw veggies. I don't eat red meat, very little meat at all. I use meatless (made from soybeans), I eat alot of yogurt, because I have been on alot of antibiotics in the last two years. I'm sure that's what it is. I am going to see the gastro-doctor on September 16th, that  is the soonest they could fit me in. I have to have my stomach looked at again. I have to stay on this diet forever, because of polyps. It really is a healthy diet. I'm fixing to learn how to cook tofu, my daughter is a vegan.

My daughter is vegan as well.  I have learned to cook more meatless foods.  I try to eat a lot of high fiber foods.  Just curious.........
