I second all the good advice that vergo57 has already offered. Especially that about finding a good doctor that you feel confident and comfortable with, enough so that you can share all your health concerns and problems. Quite often one problem leadsLead poisoning to another, or one is the cause of another. Being completely honest about ALL your problems with your doctor will help him or her to reach an accurate diagnosis and suggest the right treatment to really help you. Good luck.
I take a teaspoon of Metamucil in the am and pm..it is not a laxative but a good source of soluable fiber. It will make your stool come out much easier..but make sure you take it regularly.
Straining during bowel movements is not good for your system and can cause complications when you get older and it can cause hemmoroids and bleeding.
I had mucus too in my bowel movements when I was constipated but no longer since I have been taking Metimucil.
Also it is important to drink lots of water too.
You should get yourself a doctor who you can feel comfortable enough to discuss your health problems and answer any questions.
Best of health...virgo
