mucous...etc...
45 days later and 45 pounds lighter, I met the right G.I. doctor and he did a scope in his office, not too invasive and lasts like two minutes....that helped him determine I should be hospitalized and to be tested for Crohn's. Very hard to diagnose, but can be over diagnosed, as is the case when many are simply diagnosed with IBD/IBS (the umbrella term for all intestinal disorders).
Crohn's has nothing to do with what you eat or what you don't eat, Diverticulitis however does. Both of which you cannot
find out you have unless you have the colonoscopy...it is painless, better than a barium enima for sure!!! The day prior for prep sucks because you are cleaning your self out.
If the blood in your stool is brownish red, then the blood is coming from a higher place in your colon and would then not be hemoroids but possibly cysts. Diverticulitis is slight cuts in the intestinal wall and usually by simply adding fiber to your diet, like metamucil, you will feel much better. Stay away from
roughage. Crohn's however can have a 100 different types and can
run from your asophogus to your rectum.
If the blood in your stool is definately red, you are looking at more of a rectal problem, could still be hemoroids, but can also
be Crohn's.
The best and only thing I can recommend after 5 years of suffering is get the colonoscopy and or the endoscopy if it may
be something up higher....but do it and do it soon....Crohn's
is no friend to anyone...and there is no cure...just maintenance drugs and knowing what to eat and not eat so you don't aggrevate it....but remember what you have eaten does not cause Crohn's, only what you eat after you have been treated will ''affect'' your symptoms.
Good Luck!
