question about stone

by ttcoffin, Nov 10, 2002 12:00AM
My husband was sent to the mayo clinic and although the doc there was great, our doc here did not put in prior authorization to our insurance for more then a consultation. He thinks my hubby needs the ERCP but we have to go back and have it done. He specializes in this test, so that makes us feel better. The thing is, he said he is 75% sure that my husband does not have spinchter of oddi dysfunction, but he said everyone is different, he really thinks he might have a stone in the pancreatic duct. My husband wanted me to ask you guys if it is possible that the stone "moved"? His pain has been pretty much constant, until about 2 weeks ago, he was sitting down and felt something "move", right in the spot where he has his pain(upper, middle stomach). He said it felt so strong, he thinks someone might have been able to see it move. Since then, his pain has let up some, now it only comes and go's. The doc there said if the stone moved on, he would have no pain at all. The doc said spintcher of oddi dysfunction or a stone are the only 2 things he thinks it is. Should my husband still have the ERCP, with all of the risks, even though the pain isn't constant? I think he should, because he still has pain off and on. What do you guys think? Thank you so much.........Tanya
