Stint in Place - pain still there

I had my gallbladder out last Jan, had pancreatitic attacks, an ERCP in which they opened up a closed duct (didn't have that problem before the gallbladder came out) and now more attacts which have led to another ERCP and a stint in place. To be honest, I don't feel any better than before the stint and they have to remove it anyway since it can only be in for 2 weeks! Should I have them open the duct in which the stint is in or just remove the stint and deal with it. I am only 37 and otherwise in great health. Is there anyone out there with a similar problem?

I just had to write to say you are the first person I have heard of that has the same rule with Stents being in place. Most people I have talked to say their surgeon is leaving them in place for 4-6 months. My surgeon says you have them stay in that long if you have cancer. Who is your surgeon and what state do you live in? Have you been clinicaly diagnosed with Pancreatitis yet? SOD is a real possibility.

It doesn't help that it is a holiday...MD's office is closed and I have already been told I have to put up with the pain until the stent is removed.I have been given a non-narcotic RX. The pain seems worse than before the ERCP!I am expected to return to work on Monday?
PLEASE do not take this in anyway except for a possibility to your problem, but have you considered the possibility that you may be having a pancreatic attack?
The stent is not supposed to hurt. I felt mine, especially with eating. But a pancreatic attack after ERCP is QUITE possible. I have had several. The pain is worse than childbirth. All you want to do is throw up (if you can for releif) which doesn't last long. And you can't lye down. You want to sit up and rock back and forth.
I was told after my first surgery that I "wasn't managing my pain well". Thats the exact words the surgeon said to me. I was in excrusiating pain. I know know it was a pancreatic attack. If you are in so much pain that your having trouble walking, sitting, lying down, sleeping...consider this a possibility and head to the ER. Only the strongest of pain releavers (Morphine) is help to ease the pain. And if it is a Pancreatic attack and it goes untreated, you coul.d end up with Chronic Pancreatitis and believe me...you don't want to go there.
Look up on the web Pancreatitis and see the symptoms and see if they don't apply to you. You will also read that an attack "likes" to occur after surgery.
Just a thought. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...don't freak out that this is POSITIVLY happening to you. It's just a thought on my part...someone who has been there.
