Pain and discomfort for 4 years

For the last 4 years, I have had the following symptoms: Gnawing hunger-like pains that get worse leading up to a bowel movement and then often(but not always) subsides afterwards.  The discomfort ranges from mild to severe with varying degrees of nausea as well. When the discomfort is severe enough, I will vomit as well. I had a blood work-up as well as endoscopy with biopsy.  Nothing was found.  Recently, I noticed that during the "hunger-like" pain, I find there is a hard "lump" in my abdominal area (usually around midline, halfway between my navel and my sternum, but sometimes I will notice the hardness in other areas of my abdomen).  This lump is throbbing with my heartbeat.  As the pain decreases, the lump softens and goes away.  I have times of mild constipation and times of mild diarrhea.  The constipation and the loose stools don't cause me much distress but the cramping hunger pain and the nausea do.  The physician that I saw only checked out my upper G.I. tract, but I get the feeling that it is in the lower G.I. tract.  Has anybody else had symptoms such as these?  Could it be a spastic colon.  It sure seems like something is cramping in my abdomen.  Any advice would be much appreciated!!!

I'm sorry to hear you have been suffering that long Sweetlilac.  Check with your city/gov't or health board even.  There must be someplace out there that helps those who are in need of medical attention that can't afford it.  What state/country are you in?  Maybe I can help you figure out who to contact for assistance.  Don't let this go much longer.  I understand how you feel.  It is very depressing not to mention very stressful.  Takes alot out of me and really puts my body thru an emotional rollercoaster.  That in itself makes it very difficult to have any energy to do anything.  I force myself to do stuff just so I don't feel sicker but a big part of that for me is because I'm a diabetic too and if I don't get my exercise in regularly and keep my sugar levels under control I would be even sicker than I already am at times.  I too hope to solve this problem sometime soon and I really do hope someone out there will be able to help you soon.

I have the same systoms but no vomiting and nausosaness. I've had this for like 5 or 6 years ever sense I moved to a new place. I'm pretty poor but can't afford a doctor. I wish the pain would just go away. It just makes me so I don't want to do a thing and I get depressed and hide away from everything and everyone. Hope we all find out what is wrong, and get rid of this horriable pain.

Yes I have been experiencint the abdominal pain for about 5 months now.  During this time I've had constipation that didn't bother me much and now for the past month have constant diarhea that hurts my stomach until I have finished going to the bathroom.  I also get nausuous at least once a week now and feel like I want to throw up.  I have a couple of times but mostly just the feeling.  Sometimes I get real hot in the face but am freezing.  Lately I have also had the girgling sounds as if I am hungry, and make me think I have to go, but I don't always end up having to go.  My doctor thought at one time it was a hernia, but ruled that out pretty quick.  I've had a Berium enima which revealed I had a mild case of diverticulosis even though I have all the symptons that would turn it to diverticulitis.  Doc says nope that isn't the problem.  I just did some stool samples and they came back negative.  He was testing for any signs of bleeding or any parasites.  Nothing.  So now he is going to finally send me to a gastreo specialist.  Don't know at this point when I will be seeing the specialist but hopefully soon.  GP's can do so much and then their at a loss.  You seem to have suffered with this a lot longer than me.  Get to a gastreo specialist so you can finally get some answers and some peace of mind.  My doc is pretty good and will rule out what he can and if all fails won't wait...will pass it onto the expert in that field.  Some doc's just don't do that, and unfortunately it is the patient who suffers much longer than necessary.  Good luck and hope you get your answers real soon.
