My 7 yrs old may have pancreatic blockage.

Hi all, I took my son to the specialist and he's got him scheduled for blood work and an abdominal ultrasound. The doctor said the symptoms sound more like a pancreatic blockage rather than the ulcer that the pediatrician thought it might be. My boy is still vomiting, in 8 days he's missed 3 days now when he did not throw up. He's holding his weight at about 99, down from 108 2 weeks ago.  He complains of pain mostly in the middle of the abdomen.

I have a history of gallstones, my dad's whole side of the family has had their gallbladders out, including me, about 2 yrs. ago. But I had pain, no vomiting, and I only had 6 attacks before the doctor said "surgery"!  Best thing I ever could have done, very easy surgery and painless!

If my son does have a blockage, do you think surgery is inevitable? I can't keep letting him throw up, it's getting worse, more frequent, and I don't want the doctors to keep "trying" meds on him, they're not working. This specialist is going to put him on Previcid liquid, (can't get it till Monday, Osco has to order it). But if the meds don't work isn't it my right to ask for more detailed type of tests, I know my "nuclear" xray of my liver, gallbladder, etc was very detailed, showed everything, shouldn't the doctor do something like this?  I'm afraid my son is going to end up fearing food, god, I don't want him to develope an eating disorder after all this! Any suggestions?  Anyone else have surgery on the pancreas for blockage/stones?  Take care, Becky and Jacob
