ERCP 1 Month later

by normy, Feb 15, 2004 12:00AM
Hi

My wife had 2 ERCP's a little over a month ago.

After the second she finally after 2yrs she felt relief.

Now the pain seems to be returning but not the same as it was.

it is a little more to the right and more of constant restaining

type of pain. now a little history lap chole, colon resect on the asending colon, 3 exploratory laps, 2 c-sect's and a lap that was also used to staple down her free floating colon.

She also had a ultrasound and a ctscan that showed a spot on her liver but no one has ever taken that any further.

Our frustration lies with she feels that no one is willing to listen any more because they are backed in a corner without answers.(this is also coming from the ICU RN that she is professionally she feels that she does not need to be a burden on these doctors and they don't take her serious because she is 37yo and not older) When the ERCP's were done the first was unsuccessful because the could not penetrate the muscle. so a week later it had to be done again. this was successful! But the doctor could not believe this was over looked for so long!

Now here we are again. She feels she may have something going on with her liver for it is in the upper rt quad. If I left anything out sorry I tried to be accurate.

                              Thanks for looking

If there is continuing right upper quadrant pain, there are several considerations.  An ultrasound and CT scan noted a liver lesion.  One consideration would be gall bladder dysfunction.  A HIDA scan with CCK stimulation can be done to evaluate this.

If negative, then perhaps the liver lesion needs to be further evaluated.  An MRI can further define the lesion if there is still question after the CT and ultrasound.  If there is still confusion as to what the diagnosis is, then a biopsy may be considered to definitively diagnose the lesion.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
