I WILL TRY AND EXPLAIN WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON, HOPEFULLY YOU WILL HAVE AN ANSWER FOR ME.

A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, THERE WAS A PERIOD OF TIME WHERE I LOST MY APPETITIE FOR ABOUT A WEEK. I STILL ATE, BUT NOT AS MUCH AS I USED TO.

AND FOR THE LAST 30 DAYS, I HAVENT HAD ANY NAUSEA OR DIAREAH, BUT I GET A FUNNY FEELING IN MY STOMACH AT TIMES ESPECIALLY DURING ANY TYPE OF PHYSICAL OR MENTAL EXERTION AND SEEM TO FEEL SICK & FAINT AT TIMES, AND ALSO SORT OF LIGHT HEADED. IT IS A WIERD FEELING.

THIS IS THE BEST I CAN DESCRIBE AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ME.

IF UNABLE TO ANSWER, PLEASE FORWARD TO UNDIAGNOSED SYMPTOMS FORUM

THANKS

Possible causes can include GERD, an ulcer, inflammation of the upper digestive tract, liver or gallbladder disease.

A reasonable approach to initial testing can include a workup of the upper GI tract.  An upper endoscopy or upper GI series can be considered.

I would also consider blood tests to evaluate for H Pylori - a bacteria associated with inflammation of the upper digestive tract and ulcers.

The liver and gallbladder can be evaluated with an ultrasound.

More uncommon causes of the symptoms can include carcinoid syndrome (which can be tested with a urine test) as well as delayed gastric emptying which can be measured with a gastric emptying scan.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

I TESTED NEGATIVE FOR HIV AT 5 WEEKS, 9 WEEKS AND AT THE 3 MONTH POST-EXPOSURE MARK. I STILL HAVE THIS AS A CONCERN ONLY BECAUSE OF THIS ILL FEELING I HAVE DESCRIBED TO YOU AND OF COURSE THE SEXUAL ENCOUNTER I WAS INVOLVED IN (MALE TO FEMALE UNPROTECTED VAGINAL INTERCOURSE). I AM A MALE.

IT HAS NOW BEEN 3 AND A HALF MONTHS POST-EXPOSURE. SO MY LAST QUESTION IS:

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR HIV INFECTION TO CAUSE THE SYMPTOMS I HAVE DESCRIBED? AND IF SO; WHY?

PLEASE CONFER WITH ANOTHER DOCTOR IF YOU HAVE TO AS I KNOW THIS IS NOT YOUR SPECIALTY.

THANKS

I started out with the exact same symptoms last april. I felt a loss of appetite and everytime i would eat or do something physical i would feel light headedness or that i am about to faint. I did my upper endoscopy and was diagnosed with hiatal hernia/gastritis. I am still trying to find out if that is the real cause of these symptoms. I will be doing further testing if I come across something I will keep you posted. Do you recall eating from outside that might have made you vulnerable to bacterial/viral infections?

I was worry about HIV because of a risky sexual encounter, but I tested negative at 12 weeks. I have loose stool that turn into diareah and back to loose stool for 3 months now. My stool is kind of foarmy, undigested vegatable, without abdominal pain. The loose stool started 2 weeks after 1000mg of Azithromax, and 2 weeks of doxyclycline for chlamydia. I am searching for other explanation beside HIV. I am trying the live culture yeast at the pharmacy in the refrigerate section this week. The same yeast that found in yogurt. My stool is back to normal now for 3 days. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the response..

Have your symptoms gone away? How were you treated? Why are you still wondering if you have been treated?

by AB724, Dec 08, 2005 12:00AM
The lightheadedness and loss of appetite did go away. But lot of other symptoms showed up right after it(fatigue, nausea, indigestion etc). I posted a list of my symptoms and history here http://www.medhelp.org/forums/gastro/messages/37572.html. I was given prevacid which has not helped much. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I am going through. If you can please get couple of tests done and try to find out what it might be. Our initial symptoms are the same so I will keep you posted.
