Getting Lab Results

Hello all, I am still here. Procrit is starting to work. Went this afternoon HGB back to 9.5 from 8.8. I was so happy I cried. I need a little help. My Dr is out of town and I am having a hard time getting my VL from lab Corp. I had my 4wk PCR 2 weeks ago. First they told me to call my Dr. Then they told me they don't see my paperwork. What can I do to put a fire under these people?

Thanks for the advice. I'm just afraid if I don't start now it'll be summer in Texas and I'll really be miserable.

Thanks about the Mavs, they are playing well right now but it was on their own court. Maybe the Kings will do better at home. They have many talented players also.
I think I saw someone's post and they ended with:
"Hugs! (that's what they say on another forum)"
what better way to say goodbye?

Knew about the meds in the fridge but I don't remember about the 2nd opinion. What is that for?
I got a 2nd opinion and bounced back and forth between my doctors stalling for time. When I finally decided to treat the nurse tried to talk me out of it till after the holidays. I should have listened to her, but I just want to get this over with! Good luck in Jan. and enjoy the holidays.

Have you decided when you are going to tx? I am starting in 5 days and 12 hours. (Dec 8th) Not like I'm nervous or anything!

Hi Elaine, I am hoping to start looking human again very soon. Its very sad when you are using around 1/2 gallon of makeup and people still tell you you look bad ha ha ha. I am so happy today not even my shot tonight could bring me down. After feeling sooo bad for sooo long just this little rise in my HGB had me giddy.

Glad you checked in. So, do you actually FEEL better or is it that you see the hgb creeping up that has you a little more perky?  The pcr result stuff is one of those annoying 'wait forever' aspects of tx - nothing ever seems to happen soon enough or quick enough.  Are you on weekly scheduled procrit injection now?  If so, I think you are up for procrit #3 tomorrow?  It's getting a little better now. Real soom you'll feel like the real Merlino, not the ghost of Merlino.

Hi my friend. I had the shot today - I was so so happy to hear it went up. I still feel like crapolla but like you said the news itself gave me quite a boost. Still waiting for the pcr results. Well, its Friday night and time to start the fun all over. let me ask you, do you kind of gag taking the Riba;s? I am sure its all in my mind but I hate those little pink pills.

Depending on the state, you might need a written note on the script from the dr, or they will not give you a copy.  I write cc to pt when the dr forgets, but i think that might be illegal to do.  Some states have specific steps to follow. If my script does not state i get a copy, the lab won't mail me one. i then have to wait for my dr to give me the results.

My riba-time issue is always if I have enough food in me.  They go down pretty easy when I think that taking three is three less than I have to take. First tx, the riba was in capsules not pills. In retrospect, I think that the pills may actually be a little gentler on the stomach because they disolve slower rather than a rush of riba when the capsules would disolve all at once.  Not sure, though, it's just one of those goofy things I've convinced myself about. Plus, the pills fit better in the pillbox.  They are only about a quarter of the size of the capsules.  Try Twizzlers.

Your case worker is not the only one you can get these from, since she is out of town, go directly to the lab.  I can not tell you how many times I have been to Radilogy to pick up labs, x-rays and film for my husbands check up on his Hodgkins, he has to go every six months now for 5 years, before considered cancer free.

Leads me to let you know that, if you sign a permission slip for someone else to pick them up, they can take that slip and pick them up, all they do is put that permission slip in your file and they will take ID from the person you have named and put it into your file.  You do not have to be the one to pick them up.

I wish you luck, but my LabCorp will NOT give me copies unless I give them a signed statement by my doctor that they are to be released to me.  I really really want to know what yours say too -- the suspense is killing me.  I am so sorry your hgb took such a dive.  Even with a 1 point increase, they are still awfully low so lay low this weekend.

maybe the laws are different for every state but here in NJ they have to give you your labs if you ask. the cbc is usually back the next day depending on time of blood draw. and yes pcr tests can take up to 2 weeks

Sometimes it helps to be agressive. If you are denied then ask to talk to the persons superior. Make it more of a problem for them to refuse you then to give it to you. The problem, is we are all impaired whether with our energy or with keeping our minds clear. We shouldn't have to fight for something that we have paid for. But if you have the energy, then I say throw a controlled fit.  Nobody likes having a person screaming, "you are stealing from me", in thier office.

My CBC's were ready in 2 days. I have been waiting for this for 2 weeks. Do they usually take this long for the pcr's?

i also use labcorp and when i go to get the blood drawn i tell them there that i want a cc sent to me and they note it. i sometimes call the 800# to see if tests are complete and "remind" them to mail me a copy. many times the person i'm on the phone with will print the results out while i'm on the phone and put into envelope and hand write the address on it. i then receive it within the next 5 days even though they are in same state as me. it is like the pony express all over again! actually the pony express would be faster. lol

My case worker is on vac. She faxes me the info as soon as she gets it from Lab Corp. . I don't remember signing anything. By the time I get out of work they are closed, however, they are open tomorrow so I will have to handle it then. Thank you for your help.

First off they are records of your body and health; and you have all the right in the world to have them faxed or mailed you copies.  I do not know if you signed a waiver of release for them to be able to send this info; but you will need to give them permission to do so.  Privacy laws take effect here. If you are close enough to this place, give them a call and tell them you will be in at (? what ever time) to pick them up, to please have them ready.  IT IS YOUR RIGHT!!!  And go pick them up, while you are there you can sign the waiver form and have ID with you.

Hope this will help.
