Alcohol and Smoking -> Hepa-B( Ulcer)

My question would be if these vices could affect her(a friend) sickness to worsen?? She had hepa-b since birth or childhood.. she is still 18 yrs old now.. The alcohol she drinks is not beer, thankfully, but hard shots mostly tequilla>.<

I mean her body is weak, right?? So these vices could really affect her condition..

THX

It would be a big difference is she is active vs inactive Hep B.

If she is active she is most likely having liver damage so drinking wouldn't be advisable.

Inactive is less clear. When I was first diagnosed with HBV in 1988 I was told I was a 'healthy carrier' and just go about in my life. That term was now changed to 'inactive carrier' since there is a chance it can reactivate.

Don't worry nor be afraid to ask questions.  I was just giving you a heads up as threads on drinking and smoking often get quite (hmmmmm) lively shall we say and I didn't want you to get caught off guard.

Actually, hard liquor is much worse than beer as far as impact upon ones body.  Although I suppose a shot here or there might be viewed as not as dangerous as drinking several beers.

As for alcohol vs. smoking, the general consensus wsould seem to be that is that from a liver aspect smoking is not as dangerous but as it does introduce toxins which the liver must filter it is recommended to quite is possible.

If she was exposed to hep but is not active (like my hep B) Some people fight it off on their own. Then I would think she could drink like any 18 yr old is not supposed to.Yep tequilla  WAS my favorite poison. Guess she needs to find out if she is active.

Oh boy, I can see this thread filling quickly, not that anyone here is opinionated or anything.

The alcohol, of any variety, is most likely not a good idea.  The smoking too might not be the wisest choice either.  Actually, anything which strains the liver is not recommended.

Now brace yourself as you probably are going to see what happens when such a loaded question is posed to a bunch of folks on Hepatitis medications.
