Question Title: follow -up to misscarriage or eptopic?

Forum: The Maternal and Child Health Forum
Topic: Pregnancy - Abnormal

i did recieve a reponse to my past letter but i really didn't get the anwser to my question. this was the question of why if these were said to be tubal pregnancies ,why did they expell from my body evrything i read says surgury or other forms of treatment but both of mine exited from the vagina at about five wks. they were large enough to be felt and noticable,i just can't understand how if they were stuck in the tube that caused the preg. to end then how could they move through that tube after diagnosis to be expelled like a misscarriage ? so are my doctors guessing it was in the tube ? the first time
upon ulttrasound they said they saw something the size of a dime on my ovary and then after it expelled they saw a blood clot inthe tube to confirm that the preg had been there. can eptopics end by coming out and if so how is this possible?

Dear Stacey:
The ectopic pregnancy does not pass through the uterus and exit the vagina. The ectopic pregnancy is expelled from the fimbriated end of the fallopian tube (some people call this a tubal abortion). Less often the pregnancy is resorbed inside the tube. In both cases, the scavenger cells of the body dispose of the abnormal tissue.
Even though the pregnancy is within the tube, a significant amount of uterine lining growth occurs and this must be shed into the vagina. That is the bleeding and/or tissue that you have noted.
