Question Title: overnight aperance of flat mole

Forum: The Maternal and Child Health Forum
Topic: Childhood Disease

My son is 11yrs. old, he has epidermal nevus syndrome, GERD,chronic
migraines and tension headaches, right renal agenisis, mild learning
disabilities, motor delays, OCD, phobias, anxiety, and undiagnosed leg
pains. On 10-8-98. my son noticed a brown spot on his left foot, located on
top of his foot just below his small toe. This spot is flat, irregular
in shape, about 1/4 inch long w/ another spot next to it the size of a
pen point. It isn't itchy, causes no pain, no new soap, lotion, or
laundry detergent has been used. Can this be just a mole or freckle? do
they appear suddenly? He checks his feet daily as part of his OCD so this
was not presant on 10-7-98. Skin cancer runs in our family. could this
spot be related to the epidurmal nevus syndrome?

Thank you
Cathy

Dear Cathy :
If your son is very sure about it being apparent within 24 hours , the possibilities are limited to a small bleed under the skin , but I would suggest his dermatologist see it for a definite diagnosis .
